January 31, 2019
On January 30, Open Doors Canada was in Ottawa for the 2019 World Watch List Parliamentary Launch. It was an informative and engaging morning. We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to present our 2019 World Watch List at parliament.
The launch was attended by Members of Parliament as well as friends from the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada and Christian Embassy.
In his keynote address, our Executive Director Rev. Gary Stagg, shared recent trends observed from this year’s world watch list findings. He noted the staggering increase in persecution over the last year as the estimated number of Christians at risk of “high”, “very high” or “extreme” has risen to 245 million.
He addressed the need for advocacy on behalf of the persecuted church and the ways in which Open Doors is willing to support policy makers in doing so. He also highlighted the policy recommendations made in the 2019 World Watch List report.
Thank you to attendees
We want to express our heartful gratitude to those Members of Parliament and other honoured guests that attended the launch in Ottawa.
We especially want to thank our gracious host, David Anderson, MP. The Parliamentary Launch would not have been possible without his support for Open Doors.
Your Voice Matters
We want to thank our faithful supporters who sent letters to their Members of Parliament, urging them to attend this event. Many of those in attendance were present because they received invitations from our supporters.
If you see your member of parliament on the list of attendees below, consider sending them a note of thanks! If you sent an email inviting your MP but they did not attend, don’t be discouraged. Our MPs had a very busy morning. By your reaching out to them they have been made aware about this important cause.

Please pray for those policy-makers who attended the launch; that they would be compelled to act.
Please pray for persecuted believers around the world, that God would comfort them and they would remain firm in their faith
