Although Morocco is considered to be a relatively tolerant country, Christians still face persecution from both the government and their communities. Christians who openly share their faith risk imprisonment and those who convert from a Muslim background can lose the right to their inheritance and custody of their children. Despite this, Morocco remains a stable oasis in the region.
“We are asking for the right to give our children Christian names, worship in churches, be buried in Christian cemeteries.” – Spokesperson for the National Coalition of Moroccan Christians.
99% of the population in Morocco is Muslim. Whilst freedom of speech is generally respected, Christians are still restricted because of their faith.
Through our local partners, we support the church in North Africa through biblical training, literature distribution, advocacy, and socio-economic development projects.
