New laws on religion have given the Church here more freedom than it has had for decades. Entire denominations and several house churches have been registered. These improvements are mainly felt in the cities. In the Central Highlands and other tribal areas Christians are still restricted in their activities. There are still Christians in prison. Persecution has become more localised and new believers are targeted more often than pastors.
