A Secret Believer Dreams About Christ

"I have come to heal and to save you”

“I am Muslim Sunni and my wife Muslim Shiite, which is an interesting mixture. Together we [have] four children, and in business we did quite well. A few years ago I developed very bad headaches, which became so extreme, that I sometimes in desperation hit my head against the wall repeatedly to make the pain go away. My wife and I did not know what to do, till that day…”, says Fadi,* an Arab Christian from a Muslim background, sharing about his conversion.

The headaches became worse and worse, but medical healthcare was not able to help Fadi. After a while Fadi even started losing his eyesight, to the point that he became completely blind. Friends took him to a specialist who sent him to a clinic for some days of treatment. Veiled Women

His wife was given permission to stay with Fadi. During the third night in the clinic Fadi woke up from his sleep and felt desperate and helpless. His wife put her hand on his head and prayed for Fadi. First she prayed in the name of Mohammed, but then in the name of several other prophets. Finally she prayed in the name of the prophet Jesus, Isa for Muslims.  After the prayer Fadi thought about all of this for a long time and finally fell asleep.

In his sleep he had a vision: “I saw a bright light, so bright that it looked like the sun. That light filled the room. I was afraid and asked “Who are you?” From the light came a voice and said: “I have come to heal and save you.”  I felt as if the light embraced me. It felt very strong, like a king. I experienced joy, peace and love. I said to the light that I wanted my wife and children to come as well.  And indeed they came to the light as well, but then the light faded away, and I shouted: “Do not leave me!”

A Devout Muslim is Healed by Jesus

Varda* was a very devoted Muslim; she would often pray all night and she read the Koran intensely. But Varda’s daughter had come to Christ through a friend named Fariba.* The daughter asked Fariba to pray for Varda because she did not want her mother to be without Jesus.

At this time Varda had a heart condition. She went to see a doctor, and at that time her daughter and Fariba had already been praying for her for eight months. While going to the doctor, Varda said: “If you are God’s Son, then make me better. Then I will believe you are God.”  When the test results returned and the doctor saw them, he said to her: “You do not have a heart problem. You are healthy!” This is how Varda became a Christian.

Before her conversion, Varda also had a problem with her arm. It was so painful that she could not lift her arm and had great difficulty sleeping. She would be able to sleep for perhaps two hours but then the pain would wake her up again. This problem continued for six months. Fariba prayed for her friend’s mother. While praying, she saw Jesus standing with Varda. He held her hands and pulled her arms up. After Fariba had this vision, Varda’s arm was healed.

Varda had been searching for God for a long time. She kept on asking: “Come God, come.” And in the end He came. She had no peace in Islam, but she has found peace in Christianity, which was an answer to prayer too.

Fadi woke up and found himself completely drained. His wife asked him what was the matter, Fadi  asked his wife whether she had heard anything. His wife said yes, but didn’t know what. “It must have been a nightmare”, she said, “Tomorrow you will see the doctor and everything will be okay.” But… then by surprise Fadi said: “I can see.” His wife didn’t believe him and asked how that would be possible. Then Fadi started describing the colour and design of the curtains in the room. When his wife still didn’t believe him, he poured out a glass of water for her, and by seeing that she fainted. Fadi slapped her on the cheeks. When she woke up, they both started to cry. They told each other that there was no need to see the doctor anymore and that they would go back to their hometown the next morning.

Fadi’s family heard about what had happened and tried to convince him and his wife that he had been healed by Mohammed. Fadi and his wife brought some ritual sacrifices to thank Allah, but they were not convinced that it had been Mohammed. A friend of his father, a nominal Christian, confirmed that it had been Mohammed. Fadi disagreed and said that the words of the voice in the light: “I have come to heal and save you”, did not sound like Mohammed’s words. So they were told by the father’s friend that they should go to a church and that they should get a Bible. They should read John and Matthew and find out who the One was. Fadi went to a church and was given a Bible. For four days in a row he and his wife read the Bible. They experienced great peace and joy. They read about miracles, about healing and many more things.

Finally Fadi’s wife said that Jesus had been the healer, and Fadi believed it too, although neither of them came from a Christian background. They knew they had been saved and were full of joy. Fadi went to his mother, bringing his Bible, to share this good news with her and tell her of the Christ that had saved them. When she heard, she started screaming at the top of her voice. Fadi’s brothers came and started to beat him, and later on the family threatened them with murder.

Fadi took his family to the other side of the city. They had to leave their businesses and their house behind. Without a source of income and without money they went back to the church where the Bible had been given to them. They felt miserable and did not know what to do. The church helped them out a little bit and the family stayed there for a while.  A friend of the pastor discipled them and taught them a lot.  This friend also told them to go to their family to be reconciled. So they went. Fadi: “I told my family that I was serving God, but they responded in a negative way, so true reconciliation proved not to be possible. My family knew that I was not Muslim anymore, and that I surely was not planning to go back to Islam. My life was too much changed in a good way since I had been healed and saved, so my family had to send me and my family away, to another part of the country, where we are living nowadays. It is good to be with the Lord, but it is not easy for a Christian from [a] Muslim background. We face so many challenges, even when we are living without our extended family.  Please pray for us and our families.”
